Madera Canyon Kennel Club
Serving the canine community of Southwestern Arizona
The Madera Canyon Kennel Club was founded in 1998 as a social arena for AKC dog owners in the south western area of Arizona. The club has expanded and includes members from Sahuarita, Green Valley, Tubac, and surrounding unincorporated areas.

In 2004, the club decided it was time to become more involved in the community and promote understanding and appreciation for pure breed dogs. The club formalized itself, assumed the name of the Santa Cruz Valley Kennel Club, electing a board of officers, appointing committee members and organizing “fun matches.”

In 2006, the club, applied for official AKC recognition. After a lot of restructuring for incorporation and an official club name change, the Madera Canyon Kennel Club was formally recognized by AKC in August 2008. The first “A” Match was scheduled and the dream was realized.

By March of 2009, the club had held the required matches and voted to seek "Licensed Status." With hopes held high, on July 17, 2009, the club was notified that full License status was approved. This set the wheels in motion for the inaugural AKC show that was held on March 26, 2010. After review by the AKC, the Madera Canyon Kennel Club was notified that it had completed all requirements and is now licensed to hold AKC point shows and obedience trials.
